Abstract

The present work was carried out for geological and geochemical characterisation of felsic volcanic rocks of Betul-Chhindwara Crystalline Complex in Central India. These felsic volcanic rocks belong to Bargaon Group and of Meso to Paleoproterozoic age. Field and petrographic study reveals that the felsic volcanics are broadly classified as pink and grey rhyolite, which corresponds to Type 1 and Type 2 rhyolites. Geochemical studies indicate that the felsic volcanic rocks of Chhindwara area belongs to FIIIb to FI, FII types of Archean rhyolites having high to moderate mineralisation potential, whereas the felsic volcanics of Betul area mostly show FII type rhyolitic nature.
